Different Lab and Wafid Results: Complaint Options in Pakistan

Pakistan-specific information for documenting different laboratory and Wafid results, requesting records, and assessing regulator or legal complaint options carefully.

A private laboratory report saying “fit” is not automatically a Wafid/GAMCA fitness certificate, and a different Wafid result does not by itself prove that a centre acted unlawfully. Reports can differ because of test dates, sample conditions, methods, reference ranges, clinical interpretation and destination-specific eligibility rules. If you believe the process was mishandled, preserve the evidence first, request a factual explanation and then choose a complaint route that actually has jurisdiction in Pakistan.

Why two reports can differ

A private lab may answer a clinical question using its own method and reference range. The assigned medical centre may use another test, another date, an examination finding or rules that are specific to an employment or residence route. A radiology report may describe an image while the centre makes a broader medical-process decision. Those differences deserve review, but they are not proof of negligence or fraud.

Compare the dates, specimen type, test method, reference range, identity details, report version and clinician comments. Check whether the reports examined the same condition. Do not compare only the words “normal” and “abnormal” without reading the full report.

Request a written explanation from the centre

Keep the request short and factual. Ask for:

  • The exact test or finding that led to the status.
  • The date and type of examination or sample.
  • A copy of records that you are legally entitled to receive.
  • The centre’s review, correction or complaint procedure.
  • The correct official contact for a follow-up.

Send copies through a verified channel and keep the original reports. Do not post passport pages or medical records in public groups. If the centre offers a repeat test or review, ask what question it is intended to answer and whether a fee applies.

Use recognised reports carefully

Chughtai Lab and Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre are examples of healthcare providers with radiology or laboratory services. Their official service pages can help you verify what a specific branch offers. Mentioning a provider does not mean it is Wafid-approved for every purpose, and a report from a recognised provider does not guarantee that an assigned medical centre will accept it as a substitute for its own examination.

If you use an outside report, include the report date, branch, patient identity and clinician interpretation. Ask the assigned centre before paying for a new test whether an existing record is useful in your case.

Pakistan complaint routes need jurisdiction checks

For a healthcare-service complaint in Pakistan, first identify the province and the regulator that covers the establishment. The Punjab Healthcare Commission explains its complaint process and asks complainants to use the establishment’s own complaint mechanism first where applicable. Its published information also describes documentary requirements and timing limits, which should be checked again before filing.

The Punjab Healthcare Commission is not a nationwide shortcut for every clinic or every dispute. If the provider or event falls outside its jurisdiction, confirm the relevant provincial or federal route. The Wafid regulations may also provide an official complaint or review path for the medical-examination process. Use the route that matches the organisation you are complaining about.

Consumer court and legal advice

Consumer-court applicability depends on the service, province, parties, notice requirements, limitation period, evidence and the remedy requested. A medical disagreement is not automatically a consumer case, and a private laboratory result does not automatically establish a breach. Speak with a Pakistan-licensed lawyer or a relevant legal-aid service before spending money on litigation.

A legal complaint cannot guarantee that a Wafid status will change, that a visa will be approved or that compensation will be awarded. It may be more practical to begin with records, a written explanation and a regulator’s process. Consider time, filing costs, travel, lawyer fees and the strength of the evidence.

Evidence checklist

  • Passport identity page and appointment slip, shared securely.
  • Centre receipts, invoices and payment confirmations.
  • The complete private-lab and centre reports, not only cropped screenshots.
  • Report dates, reference ranges, sample or image details and branch names.
  • WhatsApp messages, emails, call dates and the names or departments involved.
  • A factual timeline of the appointment, test, result and every request for review.
  • A written description of the outcome you are asking for.

Do not alter a report, create a backdated affidavit or ask a provider to remove an unfavourable result. Preserve metadata and originals where possible. If records are in a portal, download them lawfully and keep the access date.

A reasonable sequence

  1. Check the official Wafid status and save the reference date.
  2. Ask the assigned centre for the finding, records and review procedure.
  3. Obtain a qualified clinical opinion if you need help understanding the reports.
  4. Write a factual complaint to the centre and keep proof of delivery.
  5. Confirm the correct Pakistani regulator and current filing requirements.
  6. Obtain case-specific legal advice before starting a consumer or civil claim.

The guide at /wafid-medical-unfit-review-options covers the result-review stage. Do not duplicate its steps by sending multiple conflicting requests to different agents.

Frequently asked questions

If Chughtai or Shaukat Khanum says fit, must Wafid say fit?

No. An outside clinical report may support a review, but it is not automatically the official Wafid fitness decision.

Can I sue the centre immediately?

Obtain case-specific legal advice first. Jurisdiction, notice, limitation and evidence requirements vary in Pakistan.

Will a complaint change the result?

There is no guarantee. A complaint may request records, explanation or review, but the medical decision remains subject to the applicable process.

Should I send my passport in a public Facebook or WhatsApp group?

No. Share identity and medical records only through verified channels and only when necessary.

How much will a legal case cost?

There is no reliable universal amount. Ask a qualified lawyer for a written estimate of fees, filing costs and likely steps.
