Confirm the callback before travelling
Use the phone number or contact channel published by the assigned centre or shown on an official document. Ask the caller to identify the centre and your appointment reference without revealing unnecessary information. If a message comes from an unknown agent, verify it independently before paying or sending a passport copy.
Ask these questions:
- Which test is being repeated: blood, chest X-ray, another image or a clinical review?
- Why is it being repeated, in general terms?
- What date, location and department should I attend?
- Do I need my passport, slip, previous reports or images?
- Is fasting required for this specific test, and for how long?
- May I take my usual medicines, or should I ask my prescriber?
- What charges apply, which payment method is accepted and will I receive an itemised receipt?
- When and how will the next official update be provided?
Do not fast for every blood test by default. Preparation depends on the requested test and the centre’s instructions. Do not stop a prescribed medicine or take a “clearance” remedy to influence the sample.
Why a repeat test may be requested
A repeat sample may be requested if a result needs clarification, the specimen was inadequate or the clinician needs to check a result. An X-ray may need repeating if the image quality, positioning or movement prevents a useful interpretation, or if a clinician needs a further view. These are general possibilities, not a diagnosis of your case.
Ask the technologist or clinician to explain the applicable reason. The centre may have a local procedure for connecting the new test to the original appointment. Follow that procedure so the record does not become disconnected.
